Burmese/Myanmar Community Realtor in Austin, Texas
If you are part of the Burmese or Myanmar community in Austin and are looking for a realtor who understands your culture, language barriers, and goals, I would be honored to help. Over the past two years, I have been blessed to work closely with Burmese/Myanmar families in Austin, Manor, Pflugerville, Cedar Park, Leander, Round Rock, and Hutto, helping many of them buy their very first home in the United States.
How I Started Serving the Burmese/Myanmar Community
For many years, I have helped Nepali families and other Asian communities buy homes in Central Texas as Austin's first real estate broker of Nepali origin. My connection with the Burmese/Myanmar community began with a phone call from an old friend from my Walmart days, Mittra Thapa, who wanted to buy a home for his own family and also wanted someone he trusted to guide people in his community.
We searched together for about three months, looking at different neighborhoods and price ranges until we found the right home and successfully closed. That closing changed everything. At his housewarming party, I met many Burmese/Myanmar families in Austin, all with questions about home loans, down payments, and where to start.
Helping 6+ Burmese/Myanmar Families Become First-Time Homeowners
Since that first closing, with Mittra's help, we have now helped at least 6 Burmese/Myanmar families buy their first homes in the Austin area. He has been a true blessing to the community.
After his workday, Mittra often sits with friends and relatives to help them fill out loan applications. If there is a language barrier when speaking with a lender, loan officer, or title company, he jumps in to translate so everyone clearly understands the process. This partnership allows me, as a Burmese/Myanmar community realtor in Austin, to provide accurate information while making sure every buyer feels comfortable and respected.
Why Burmese/Myanmar Families in Austin Need a Community-Focused Realtor
Many Asian American and AANHPI families face extra challenges when buying a home, including language barriers, thin credit history, and unfamiliarity with the U.S. mortgage system. Research shows that language barriers alone can increase mortgage denial rates, which is why in-language support and trusted community connections are so important.
As a Broker Associate and past AREAA national advocacy member, I focus on helping AANHPI communities, including the Burmese and Myanmar communities in Austin, overcome these obstacles through patient explanations, clear education, and step-by-step guidance from pre-approval through closing.
How I Help Burmese/Myanmar Homebuyers in Austin
If you are part of the Burmese/Myanmar community and looking for a realtor in Austin, here is how I typically help: I explain the full home-buying process in simple, clear steps. I connect you with lenders who are comfortable working with immigrant and first-time buyers. I work closely with community leaders and translators like Mittra when language support is needed. I review your budget and ideal payment. I help you compare new construction vs. resale homes, taxes, and insurance so you can make a confident long-term decision.
My goal is not just to close a transaction, but to make sure your family fully understands every document you sign and every step you take.
Austin Myanmar Community: Food, Fundraising, and Giving Back
At the end of each month, the Austin Myanmar Community organizes a fundraising food fair to support people in Myanmar, sharing delicious Burmese food and culture with the wider Austin area. Being invited into this community, sharing meals, and seeing families who are now homeowners is one of the greatest joys of my work.
I am grateful to stand alongside community leaders like Mittra, using my experience as a real estate broker to support Burmese/Myanmar families who are building a new life and future here in Central Texas.
